Before You Go





Studying in a local setting is the most effective way of acquiring the language. To this end, Business Mandarin has designed the Total Immersion Program, where students can stay 3-4 days in one of the major cities in China for a short, intensive but all-rounded Chinese language training course. Total Immersion Programs are targeted for two groups of people:

1. Local Business Executives who wish to polish and build up the confidence on their spoken Mandarin for job-related presentations & negotiations.

2. Overseas Executives & Non-Chinese Speakers who are interested in learning, not only the language, but also the Chinese culture and etiquette.

 
Facilitator The team of professional Business Mandarin facilitators consists of two groups of native speakers:

Group One : Professors and senior Lecturers from major universities in China, such as Peking University, Beijing Normal University, and Beijing Language & Culture University, major in Chinese Language & Literature, History, and Education

Group Two : Professional and senior executives from Joint Ventures in the Finance & Legal sector, senior officials from Government departments




Course in Brief In addition to formal classroom training, the program also includes morning exercises (Taiji), lunch with facilitator(s) in traditional/modern Chinese restaurants, and culture events & activities in the evening.

Methodology Interactive Conversational Approach
Creative learning through interest activities such as role-plays &
simulation, presentations, analysis, group discussions and project
work, and case-studies
Undivided attention from the facilitator(s) and guaranteed practical
involvement by the participants
Use of tailor-made course materials, developed exclusively by Business
Mandarin Ltd.
Use of audio-visual aids as a supplement to text materials
Final evaluation at the end of the training course, against the
benchmark set during the pre-course assessment

Logistics Business Mandarin will charge an enrollment fee, which does not
include air tickets, hotel accommodation, visa, and insurance. Business
Mandarin can assist to arrange air ticket and hotel accommodation
separately upon request

Before You Go

It is recommended that participants will know the following before departure :

1. Pinyin pronunciation system
2. Counting numbers (e.g., 0 - 100) and numbers used in currency denominations
3. Reading time and date
4. Naming common food items (e.g., fruits, vegetables, meats, etc.)
5. Naming stores, shops, and other place names
6. Naming a few of the most common signs (e.g., metro, exit, entrance)
7. Naming common modes of transportation (e.g., train, bus, car, metro, etc.)
8. Basic greetings & self-introduction
9. Basic conversational phrases and sentences such as "Please speak more slowly.", "Can you please
repeat that?", "How do you say ____ in Chinese?", "I need _______"
10. Basic question words and usage (e.g. Where, What, When, Who, How, How much)

Should you manage the above prior to departure, you will find yourself understand and being understood much more in China, and as a result, become a effective Chinese learner.
